Captain Planet Foundation Accepting Applications for Ecotech Grants

StartFragment

The Captain Planet Foundation is accepting applications from schools and nonprofit organizations for its Ecotech Grant program, an initiative to support projects that motivate children through science, technology, engineering, and math while challenging them to re-imagine the way their world can be.

The program was created to combat the notion that students needed to choose between "the screen" or "the green" and to encourage educators and students to explore the role technology can play in designing and implementing solutions to some of our most pressing environmental challenges.

To that end, twenty grants of $2,500 each will be awarded to schools or nonprofit organizations for projects that use nature-based design or technology to address an environmental problem in their community. Ideal projects should integrate environmental education with opportunities for children to solve real-world problems by using technology and science practices to help care for the environment. Projects may replicate successful models or create new and innovative approaches.
