Talks, Music, Walks/Rides, Exhibitors

Talks: Guest speakers will cover water issues and native animals.

  • 10:15: Birds of prey by Lisa Rhodin with Myakka River State Park/TLC for Wildlife
  • 11:00: Saving water indoors and out water by Brent White, SWFWMD Water Resources
  • 11:45: Alligators by Jo Morrison, King Fisher Fleet, and Calusa Nature Center & Planetarium staff
  • 12:30: Water in southwest Florida by Dr. Win Everham, Florida Gulf Coast University
  • 1:15 Florida reptiles by Lisa Rhodin with Myakka River State Park/TLC for Wildlife
  • 2:00: Estuaries and water quality by Judy Ott, FDEP Charlotte Harbor Aquatic Preserves

Music: Musicians will perform throughout the day, including Rosie Emery, performing her original high-energy songs about the environment written specifically for children.

  • 10:15: Michael Haymans and Ralph Houseman
  • 11:00: Rosie Emery will perform high-energy original children’s songs about the environment.
  • 11:45: "Still Friends" don Leach, Carrie Blackwell-Hussey, Japhy Blackwell
  • 12:30: Alice and Elaine sing "Florida country"
  • 1:15: Rosie Emery and Michael Haymans

Walks/Rides

  • 7:30: Peace River Audubon Bird Walk
  • 10:30: Native Plant Walk
  • 1:00: Native Plant/Ecology Walk
  • 10:15, 11:30, 12:45, 2:00: Wagon Rides, limit to 20 with school/large group hayride at 9:00 but must register prior to November 3.

The festival includes "zones" including the Children's Discovery Zone (CDZ), Florida Yards (FY) and Arts of Nature. All other exhibitors will be located in the exhibitors tent unless they are a stand-alone unit.

DIRECTIONS: From I-75 Southbound, take Exit 179 / Toledo Blade, travel approximately 6 miles south to SR 776, turn west/right and travel approximately 1.5 miles to Charlotte Sports Park on the left. From I-75 Northbound, take Exit 170 / Kings Hwy, turn left off the ramp, then turn right on Veterans Hwy at the first light, travel approximately seven miles to the stadium. (You’ll cross US 41 after traveling approximately 5 miles on Veterans Hwy.)
